Nativism, civic nationalism and the malleability of voter attitudes

Abstract Nativism is one of the defining phenomena contemporary era. Yet, we know little about how malleable citizen attitudes associated with nativism and nationalism are to priming effects when media frames which deal key issues such as immigration introduced. In this article, present findings from a survey experiment fielded nationally representative sample voters in Australia May 2019. it, explore whether for different political parties can be primed by introducing two contrasting measure these effects. We find positive negative have no effect on Australia’s populist radical right party, but that former has an centre-right Australia. Such important implications our understanding communication malleability attitudes.
